10 full-body workouts you can do anywhere

Posted by Sophie Saint

Has your inbox and Facebook feed become stuffed full with ‘New Year, New You’ and ‘Get fit this January’ messages? We’re all for getting active, and if you’re kicking off your new year with fitness, then we do applaud you!

But we want to make sure that you keep going beyond the January resolution. Don't make grand and intimidating goals - make this year full of sustainable fitness habits.

And make it fun.

10 full-body workouts you can do anywhere

Need some workout routine inspiration that will get your entire body moving, shaking and sweating? Scroll down and check out our favourite full-body workouts you can do anywhere. With minimal or no equipment, be sure to save these full-body workouts for when you want to quickly blast out a workout or integrate into your gym session!

Hover over these Instagram videos and hit play to see the workouts.

1. The beginner

Are you a complete beginner to exercise and want a workout that will begin conditioning your muscles? Or are you slowly revving back up to speed after a sloth-like December? Try Chessie King’s workout - no impact, no jumping, no weights.

3. Fire up your body!

Ramp it up a gear and get stuck into this killer full-body, no equipment workout! All you need is some motivational tunes and enough space to throw yourself around. Jumping lunges, squats, press ups - how many rounds can you do?

4. Tabata time

Try out a simple Tabata style workout with Carly Rowena. Tabata Interval training means you must perform an exercise at your maximum intensity for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Try out Carly’s burpees and bike crunches, with brief rests…. Dog is optional.

5. Go home and go HAM

Get your sweat on at home with an AMRAP (as many reps as you can) workout with London Fitness Guy. Engage that core, tuck in that tailbone and go HAM (Jay-Z and Kanye can tell you that meaning) for 25 minutes.

6. Short n' sweet

Is 25-minutes too long? Need a shorter, but just as sweet, workout? London Fitness Guy has another full-body workout for when you’re tight on time.  Try these 6 supersets of 2 exercises and be as efficient as possible - BOSS it!

7. All you need is a towel!

Who needs fancy gym equipment when you have a towel! Fire up your core, legs and arms by using a towel to slip and slide across a shiny floor (don’t try this on carpet) and become the superhero you are. As Shona says, “You can't fight crime with weak glutes - Gotham needs you.” PREACH.

8. Build that strength

Be strong! Build those muscles and you’ll have the power for more workouts and feel able in everyday life! Carly’s strength workout can be done with whatever stick you can find in your house, or a bar in your gym. This conditioning sequence is great for when you’re tight on time.

9. Step on it!

Assuming you have a step somewhere in your house or garden, you can try out Kayla’s powerful workout. Do 10-12 reps per exercise for 3 rounds, and feel the thighs ignite! This cardio workout is perfect for those who want to get their stamina up whilst also toning up.

10. Superset it

London Fitness Guy has another brutal workout to fit in when you don’t have much time! He’s the king of home HIIT workouts. Do these supersets/tri-sets a few times and then pat yourself on your back. You’re doing good.

From HIIT to Tabata, to towels to steps - you have quite a few choices to try out this weekend! You don't need fancy gear to get moving. You don't have to miss out on a workout if you can't make your favourite class. Just close your eyes and choose one of these workouts randomly, and get your sweat on. #WorthSweatingFor.

Happy moving!

Exercise used to always terrify me, until I was forced to face it head-on with an impending surfing trip. I entered the world of MoveGB and never looked back.... Yoga, gym sessions and the odd round with a punchbag opened up my eyes to getting active and feeling awesome from it! Travelling, social media and blogging are what I love both in and out of work. And Turn'd Up dance has become a serious obsession now...
