Easton Leisure Centre: MoveAWARDS Leisure Centre Winner

Posted by Laura

This week we're chatting to Cameron, General Manager at Easton Leisure Centre, winner of the Best Leisure Centre category in the MoveAWARDS to find out more about what motivates him and how he came to get involved in health and fitness.

What inspired you to get into the world of fitness?

I’ve always been a keen sportsman and I enjoy working in an environment where we offer services that can genuinely make a positive influence on their quality of life. Whatever part of fitness, health or leisure you work in and whatever type of customers you have, we are always offering a product or service that improves their wellbeing. This is an industry that few can rival in terms of the effect it has on people’s lives.

What do you love most about what you do?

The people part of my role is the most enjoyable, interacting with all types of customers and colleagues gives me an opportunity to positively affect their day and sometimes a little more. Different places and facilities offer their own challenges but if you remain focused on trying to keep a constructive and optimistic outlook then you can finish work feeling like you accomplished something.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Progressing in a positive and enjoyable environment, ultimately moving forward in my career.

Who or what is your inspiration?

I find engaging in activities outside work and with friends are essential to keep perspective on life and work. I also find that it is crucial in work to keep 10 minutes a side in the day to watch a class or coaching session to see how we positively affect our customers, to appreciate the good things we do.

If you're in Bristol you can try out a class, swim or gym session at Easton Leisure Centre for free! Just follow this link and sign up to get 3 free fitness passes!

What motivates me? Knowing that life is short...
